Russian River Valley Pinot Noir — the gold standard
Williams Selyem was founded in 1981 by Burt Williams and Ed Selyem, two friends who began making wine in a garage in Forestville. Their Pinot Noirs from the Russian River Valley quickly gained a cult following, earning scores that placed them among the finest in the world and creating a mailing list so sought-after that it had a multi-year waiting period. The winery was acquired by John Dyson in 1998, who built a state-of-the-art facility in Healdsburg while preserving the winemaking philosophy that made Williams Selyem legendary: small lots, single-vineyard expressions, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Today, Williams Selyem remains one of California's most coveted producers, with wines available exclusively through the mailing list.
