Paso Robles' Rhône pioneer, farmed organically since 1989
Tablas Creek Vineyard was founded in 1989 as a partnership between the Haas family of Vineyard Brands and the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The partnership brought cuttings of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Roussanne, Viognier, and other Rhône varieties directly from Beaucastel — the first time these varieties had been imported to the United States through official channels. The estate's 120 acres in the Adelaida District are farmed organically and biodynamically, with a focus on dry-farming and cover cropping. Tablas Creek operates its own nursery, which has supplied Rhône variety cuttings to hundreds of California wineries.
