Domaine Carneros was founded in 1987 as a partnership between the Champagne house Taittinger and Kobrand Corporation, with a singular vision: to create world-class sparkling wines from the cool, fog-kissed vineyards of the Los Carneros appellation. The château-style winery, modeled after the Château de la Marquette in France, sits atop a gentle knoll overlooking 138 acres of estate vineyards. The cool maritime climate of Carneros — influenced by San Pablo Bay — produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with the naturally high acidity and delicate fruit character ideal for méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines. Winemaker Eileen Crane, one of California's most celebrated sparkling wine specialists, has guided the estate since its founding, earning Domaine Carneros a reputation as the benchmark for California sparkling wine.
