Brewer-Clifton was founded in 1996 by Steve Clifton and Greg Brewer, two winemakers who shared a conviction that the Sta. Rita Hills AVA could produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of world-class stature. The winery focuses exclusively on single-vineyard wines from the Sta. Rita Hills, a cool-climate appellation defined by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its ancient, wind-sculpted soils. Each wine in the Brewer-Clifton portfolio is a precise expression of a specific site — from the volcanic soils of Melville to the sandy loam of Sweeney Canyon.
